Pilgrimage to EASTERN EUROPE AND OBERAMMERGAU

September 20-30, 2010

Travel with Fr. Lim and experience the people of Oberammergau re-enact the Passion of Christ to thank God for saving them from the Black Plague in the 1600's.  After that visit Salzburg, Vienna, Prague and other pilgrimage sites. See below for contact info. 

Trip itinerary:

 

Day 1 Sep 20 - Mon , Depart SFO for Munich

 

Day 2 Sep 21- Tue, Arrival in Munich - The rest of the day is free.

 

Day 3 Sep 22 -Wed, Munich / Oberammergau

 

            Visit Nymphenburg Palace, the Glokenspiegel of Marienplatz, drive to see

Neuschwanstein castle in the afternoon and then arrive in the village of of Oberammergau, the home of the world famous Passion Play.

 

Day 4 Sep 23- Thu, Oberammergau

 

                Today is the highlight of the trip. It is the story of the people of this city that been told for centuries.  The people of Oberammergau asked for a miracle and they got it. In thanksgiving for saving the town from the Black Plague in the 1600's the people vowed to re-enact the Life and Passion of Christ every ten years.  The people have kept that promise except during the two World Wars.

 

Day 5 - Sep. 24 - Fri, Oberammergau / Altoetting

 

                Visit the Wieskirche (Church in the Meadow) and go on to Allotting, Germany's famous Marian shrine.  Here we will visit the Basilica of St. Anna, the Holy Chapel, the Collegiate Church,

and the Treasury, which houses gifts, donated to the Basilica and St. Konrad Monastery.

 

Day 6 - Sep. 25-Sat, Altoetting / Salzburg

            Leave Altoetting for Saltsburg. Stop at Marktl, the birthplace of Pope Benedict XVI.  Visit the Mirabel Gardens, Mozart's Geburtshaus and Hellbrunn Palace.

 

Day 7 - Sep. 26- Sun, Salzburg / Vienna

Depart Salzburg; visit Melk Abbey, After Mass we drive to

Visit Heiligenkreuz (Holy Cross Abbey), a Cistercian monastery in the southern part of the Vienna woods. Then travel to Vienna.

 

Day 8 - Sep. 27- Mon, Vienna

                       

Visit the Schönbrunn Palace, the gardens and elaborately decorated rooms. We will also

Visit the Opera House, the Stadtpark, and the landmark St. Stephen's Cathedral, where we will celebrate Mass.

 

Day 9 - Sep. 28 - Tue, Vienna / Prague

This morning we will depart Vienna for Prague. We will

cross the Austrian/Czech border and drive to Brno to visit

The Capuchin Church of Saints Peter and Paul. Continue to

the Golden city of Prague.

 

Day 10 - Sep. 29 - Wed, Prague

Today we visit the Prague Castle, St Vitus Cathedral, and the Church of Our Lady of Victory. After Mass, we cross the historic Charles Bridge and admire its historic statues.

Continue to the Loreto Shrine, one of the most important pilgrimage sites of Europe.
