Holy Creator of trees: Bless with Your abundant grace, this our Christmas
tree, as a symbol of joy. May its
evergreen branches be a sign of Your never-fading promises.
May its colorful lights and ornaments call us to decorate with love our
home and our world. May the gifts
that surround this tree be symbols of the gifts that we have received from the
tree of Christ’s love. Holy
Christmas tree within our home, may joy and peace come and nest in your branches
and in our hearts. Amen. SCRIPTURE READINGSDECEMBER 20-21, 2008 2 SAMUEL 7:1-5, 8-12, 14, 16 ROMANS 16:25-27 LUKE 1:26-38 PLANNED GIVING NOTESBefore You Sell

Our Love And Prayers Go Out To... St. Victor’s
Parish Community would like to extend their sympathy and prayers to the
families and friends of Federico Eslao, Joanne Gleason, Lorie Magsuci, Kathy
Neves and Edward Sierra, who recently passed away. SPECIAL NOTICE: The Diocesan Insurance Company does not permit parking in the back
parking lot (hall, parish center area) after the 8:00 A.M. weekday Masses
due to the presence, and for the safety of St. Victor’s School children.
Thank you for your cooperation in this important matter.
SOCIAL JUSTICE ISSUES... U.n.I. LORD TEENS WINTER SERVICE
PROJECT. If you have clean, gently used coats
(men’s sizes most needed), clean blankets or towels, they can certainly be
put to good use. The U.n.I. Lord
Teen Group will be accepting your clean donations for shelters throughout
this winter. New socks
are needed too. Please drop off your donation at the CM or Rectory Office
between 8:00 A.M.–4:00 P.M., Monday through Friday.
God bless you for your consideration to the needy of our community. NEEDY FAMILY. Our St. Vincent de Paul Society volunteers are working with several families in our parish community in need of a twin bed set, crib, several dressers, a woman’s bicycle and ladies warm coat size 13. If you are able to help, please call the Rectory Office @ 251-7055. THANKS to the parishioners who donated a dresser and washer to a family in need. EASTSIDE F.I.S.H. food
collection is next weekend. Please
bring your non-perishable food donations (peanut butter, tuna,
canned vegetables & fruit, macaroni & cheese, etc.) and place them
in the wooden box in the vestibule of the Church. EASTSIDE F.I.S.H. THE GIVING TREE. Parishioners
are invited to take a tag from the GIVING TREE in the vestibule
representing a needy individual of our parish community. Please purchase a
gift and return the gift unwrapped with the tag attached, to the
designated box in the vestibule.
[The tag is the only way that our volunteers have of identifying the
family/individual. The tags also indicate sizes for clothing; however, if
you wish to purchase another type of item, please feel free to do so.]
Please return the gift by next Saturday, December 20th,
so that our St. Vincent de Paul Society volunteers have time to sort, box
and distribute them to all of the families before Christmas.
(Please return the gifts during the weekend Masses only!)
A SPECIAL THANK YOU to those who are called and will be
assisting as “extra hands:’ delivering the gifts this year.
Our St. Vincent de Paul Society volunteers appreciate your help!
For
information or for an application to St. Victor’s School, please call the
School Office @ 251-1740. THERE WILL
BE A SECOND COLLECTION NEXT WEEKEND FOR THE POOR. THESE FUNDS
WILL BE DISTRIBUTED TO SEVERAL OUTREACH PROGRAMS. Bradley James will be selling his CD’s after Masses next weekend.
He will also be singing next weekend after Communion at the Saturday
5:00 P.M. Mass, the Sunday 9:15 A.M. and 12:15 and 5:00 P.M. Masses.
MULTICULTURAL
CHRISTMAS SEASON CELEBRATIONS
Kwanzaa
is an African American and Pan-African holiday that celebrates family,
community and culture. Celebrated
from December 26th through January 1st, its origins
are in the first harvest celebrations of Simbang Gabi
– a Filipino tradition, is a nine-day novena – Mass at Dawn to the
Blessed Mother. The novena
begins on December 16th and culminates with the ‘Misa de
Gallo” on Christmas Eve to welcome the birth of our Savior.
In some Churches, the panuluyan is reenacted, showing the
effort of Joseph and Mary to find a suitable birthplace.
“Rejoice in the Lord always.” (TH 1:46)
