There will be a Second Collection today for our St. Vincent de Paul Society.  Please help our volunteers help our neighbors in need.  Thank you for your generous support.

All Saints Day – Holy Day of Obligation

“Follow the saints, because those who follow them will become saints.”  (Clement I)

Thursday, November 1st, the Solemnity of All Saints, is a holy day of obligation.

Masses on Thursday, November 1st, All Saints Day, will be celebrated at 6:30, 8:00 and 11:00 A.M. and 7:30 P.M.

All Souls Day

All Souls Day is Friday, November 2nd.  The All Souls intentions will also be remembered throughout the month of November.  “It is holy and wholesome thought to pray for the dead.” (2 Maccabees 12, 46)  All Souls remembrances may be dropped in the collection basket).  Extra All Souls envelopes are available in the pews.

Masses on All Souls Day will be celebrated at 8:00 and 11:00 A.M. and 7:30 P.M. (First Friday Mass).

First Friday Adoration and Mass

Please join us for our First Friday Devotion.  The Blessed Sacrament will be exposed for adoration in the Chapel  after the 8:00 A.M. Mass on Friday, November 2nd, and will continue until the 8:00 A.M. Mass on Saturday.  Mass on Friday evening will be celebrated at 7:30 P.M. in the Church.

We remember deceased family and friends in a special way on November 2nd, All Souls Day.  In countries of Hispanic and/or Latin cultures, this day is known as the “Day of the Day of the Dead.”  It is an important and festive celebration that views death as the entryway to eternal life as promised by Christ – death is a natural extension of life, where deceased members continue to live.  The festivities demonstrate a respect for the sanctity of life, as well as a strong belief in the communion of saints.

PLANNED GIVING NOTES

Life Insurance Gifts

It is easy to turn an old life insurance policy into a nice gift to St. Victor’s Parish, and a possible tax deduction.  Simply transfer it to, “The Roman Catholic Bishop, a California Corporate Sole, for the benefit of St. Victor’s Parish.”  It is even easier to add the Parish as a beneficiary to a policy.  Because you can always change this, there is no tax deduction for including the Church as a beneficiary.

If you want to know more about this, the Diocese can provide free assistance.  Call the Development Offices at 983-0245, or write to them at:  900 Lafayette Street, Suite 301 , Santa Clara , CA 95050 .

Catechetical Ministry Holiday Fund-raising

Delicious Cherrydale Farms Fund Raising Candy, Gift and Gift Wrap order packets are available in the box in the vestibule or at the CM and Rectory Offices.  This fund-raiser supports the religious education programs for all St. Victor’s school children.  Deadline for orders is Wednesday, November 5th.  IMPORTANT - PLEASE NOTE: Orders must be picked-up on Wednesday, November 28TH, from 2:00-9:00 P.M. in the parish hall.
