CATECHETICAL MINISTRY
CATECHETICAL MINISTRY REGISTRATION
INFORMATION. Catechetical
Ministry (CM) registration will be held Thursday & Friday, September 4th
& 5th, from 4:00-8:00 P.M., Saturday, September 6th,
from 9:00 A.M.-3:00 P.M. and Sunday, September 7th, from 8:00
A.M.-2:00 P.M. in the parish center. All
those who will be signing-up their student(s) to receive the Sacraments of
Reconciliation (Confession), First Communion or Confirmation must bring an
original or a copy for their child’s BAPTISMAL certificate (it will be
returned to you at the time you register).
No child will be registered for a sacrament class without their
Baptismal certificate. Please see
the following for information needed to register your student(s) for CM
classes on the dates given above. THINGS TO REMEMBER WHEN REGISTERING YOUR STUDENT(S) FOR CATECHETICAL
MINISTRY CLASSES IN SEPTEMBER 2008: For those who will be registering
young people for our CM program, you will need to complete Emergency/Family Agreement Form(s) for each student attending our
program. This form must be completed every year and handed in at the
time of registration in September. For
your convenience, you may print the form from our Website,
http://www.parish.stvictor.org/catechism.html
.
Please scroll down to CM Handbook and open it.
The “Emergency Form” and “Family Agreement Form” are near the
end of the handbook. Print as many as needed for the amount of students you
have. PLEASE be sure you have
the following on your “Emergency Form:” complete names, addresses and telephone numbers
for your student’s dentist, doctor, two Emergency Contacts as well as complete
name, address telephone number and working hours for each parent’s employer.
This includes “step-parents.”
These forms will also be available at the time you register if you do
not have access to a computer. It
is important to note that these forms must
be kept current at all times. As with any
school, new emergency forms must
be filled out each year and kept
current throughout the year. It
is no different for our program. We
have found that indeed we needed information from a few of them this past
school year and unfortunately found that they were NOT
kept current. This delays the
emergency process. We realize that
this form is time consuming, but we ask your cooperation in filling in this
information properly and completely, and then presenting it to us at the time
you register your student(s) for CM classes.
If you are registering your
returning 2nd year student(s) for sacraments (student must have
already completed their first basic year of Catechism), please
remember to bring their BAPTISMAL
certificates, as NO
student(s) will be registered without it.
No exceptions will be made. If you are registering someone else’s student(s) for CM classes (i.e.,
niece, nephew, grandchild, friend), please remember that you MUST
have written permission from the parent to do so.
We cannot register the student without this permission.
This also means, you must make sure that you have the completed
Emergency/Family Agreement Forms for these student(s).
Please bring your completed forms with you when you register your
student(s) for CM Classes the first
weekend in September 2008. CM TEACHERS NEEDED. If you have a love for children and a desire to share your faith, Catechetical Ministry is in need of teachers for our fall session. Currently, we are looking for a 3rd grade teacher for Wednesday classes and a 5th grade co-teacher for Saturday classes, as well as aides for both Wednesdays and Saturdays. We are also in need of a 6th grade teacher (facilitator) and High School Confirmation I facilitators (the facilitators are members of a core team that present to a smaller group). This is a big commitment and we ask you to please give it prayerful consideration. CM will train you. Please keep in mind, all volunteers now need to meet the following criteria in addition to being trained by CM: all must be fingerprinted, a Diocesan application completed to be kept on file, and an online Safe Environment Workshop, mandated by the Diocese must be completed. If you are interested, please call 251-0165 and leave a message. Although the CM Office is closed until August 15th, we will be checking for messages through the summer and will contact you for an interview when we return. All fingerprint appointments must be set up through the CM Office and the Safe Environment Workshop information will be given when you come in to set up your appointment. The entire process may sound complicated, but is really very simple and well worth the effort. We look forward to hearing from you. SOCIAL
